Summer is here in our home! We’re still planning on doing some school work (because we all know it gets MESSY if we don’t), but for the most part, I think we’re all excited about hanging out around the pool, relaxed mornings and getting some projects done around the house. Ok, that might just be me. 🙂
Several years ago I was trying to find a way to celebrate summer and give me and my young kids some direction and ideas before boredom set in. Thus the Summer Checklist was born.
A friend told me she thought it might sound too daunting to try to get everything checked off. If that sounds like you, maybe the summer checklist isn’t something for you, OR the things you put on it are too big! I’ll sit down with the kids and we brainstorm a BUNCH of things, then as they trail off and lose interest, I will put them (maybe “forgetting” some- shhh!) on a pretty board. I’ve used painted foam board before, but this year I found a pretty chalkboard that worked really well in this random nook in my kitchen! Voila!
Some of my favorite entries over the year have been silly ones like:
Playing video games with underwear on your head
Scavenger hunt through the mall
Paint hair a fun color
Buy a thrift store shirt
Sometimes if we have a free day or afternoon we’ll go knock several things off the list. It’s so fun! Happy planning!
